Marcelo Alberto Bielsa Caldera was born on July 21, 1955 in Rosario, Argentina. Marcelo Bielsa did not support his neighbors' team Rosario Central but supported its eternal rivals. This is the team that his parents especially his father was following passionately.

Being born in the family with a law and politics past, Marcelo Bielsa decided that he should break the tradition and dedicated his life to the football. The vocation was different from that of his brother who works as a politician and he was a national deputy of Capital District of Buenos Aires in 2007. His sister known as Maria Eugenia was a former vice-governor for the Santa Fe province.

Career and Net Worth

Marcelo Bielsa has managed football clubs and also the national teams of Chile and Argentina. In Chile, he was able to achieve cult status because of the improved results that the team was able to achieve while under his leadership. His gestures and personality during his time in Chile captured the attention of the media and it unleashed some controversies in both politics and media. He decided to resign in 2015 as a coach of Marseille.

Marcelo Bielsa played the position of a defender for the First Division Team of Newell’s Old Boys but he retired when he reached 25 years old in 1980. After his retirement, Bielsa decided to turn to football management. After he qualified as a physical education teacher, he went ahead and started to coach his team. He helped his team to win many titles and left to go to Mexico where he coached Club America and Club Atlas. He returned to Argentina where he managed Velez Sarsfield.

The first professional coaching job he got was to coach the youth division of Newell’s Old Boys club in Argentine. In the year 1990, he was given a task to manage the first team of Newell and continued to Torneo Apertura, Torneo Integracion when they defeated Boca Junior on penalties,. He managed a squad that competed in the final of 1992 Copa Libertadores but they lost to Sao Paulo because of penalties. After a defeat in the Copa Libertadores final, Newell and Bielsa won the Torneo Clausura of 1992.

Bielsa always made the news because of his tactics that made a profound impact on the football on both international and domestic stages. Marcelo Bielsa does not like to give exclusive interviews but he prefers press conferences to communicate. His press conferences can take over 3 hours since he will answer every question asked during such gatherings.

Former Athletic Bilbao defender, Andoni Iraola claimed Marcelo Bielsa's tough training programs only focused on the physical perspectives. He also claimed that players secretly were not fans of his methods. Bielsa holds a high force instructional course which pits eleven verses eleven and is centered around the constant activity. Staff and balls are set around the pitch to ensure that there are no breathers for the players, with balls continually siphoned into the activity.
