Marcus Stroman is known as an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He is most famously known for being the World Baseball Classic MVP in 2017.

Marcus Earl Stroman was born on May 1, 1991 in Medford, New York. Marcus Stroman was born to a Puerto Rican mother and an American father, making him qualified to speak to both nations at the World Baseball Classic. His father, Earl Stroman, works as a police analyst in New York. Marcus' parents, Earl and Adlin Auffant, ended their marriage when he was in fifth grade. He has two siblings, a brother named Jayden and a sister named Sabria. He grew up in Medford where he was educated at Patchogue-Medford High School.

Career and Net Worth

In 2012, Marcus was selected as the 22nd pick in the MLB Draft, making him the first player from Duke University to be picked in the first round. Stroman signed with the Toronto Blue Jays and began his professional career with the minor league team, the Vancouver Canadians. Unfortunately, he received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for methylhexanamine.

The Blue Jays pitcher started on Opening Day of the 2016 season against the Tampa Bay Rays in a 5-3 triumph. On May 1, in a game against Tampa, Marcus recorded a record-breaking 9 strikeouts, the highest number of strikeouts by any Blue Jays pitcher on their birthday. A quarter of a year later, he struck out 13 hitters in a game against the Houston Astros, completing the 2016 season with a 9-10 record and a 4.37 ERA. At the end of the season, Marcus had also pitched a personal high of 204 innings, earning 166 strikeouts in the process. The Blue Jays beat Baltimore in the Wild Card game to advance to the 2016 American League Division Series, and the American League Championship Series after defeating the Cleveland Indians.

In July 2019, it was announced that the New York Mets had reached a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays to acquire right-hander Marcus Stroman in exchange for pitching prospects Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods-Richardson.

Marcus Stroman's better half is Hildy Hahn. Hildy attended Appalachian State University, which is a two-hour drive from Duke University, where Marcus was studying. In a tweet, Marcus posted a photo of Hildy with the caption, "My girlfriend in a Blue Jays-themed tutu." There has been no news of them breaking up, so sports fans assume that they are still together.
