Maribel Aber attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in foreign affairs and minored in German. She later pursued law studies at New York Law School in New York City, earning her Juris Doctor degree.

Early Career in Finance and Media

Aber began her professional career at the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD), the former self-regulatory organization overseeing the stock market and NASDAQ. Her early focus was on securities regulation and market operations.

In 2001, she joined NASDAQ as Associate Director of Global Sales and Member Services, where she managed a broadcast studio and oversaw operations within a seven-story tower. The following year, she became Chief of Staff to the Vice Chairman of NASDAQ. She was later promoted to Vice President of the NASDAQ MarketSite, the iconic location of the NASDAQ Opening Bell in Times Square.

During her tenure, Aber played a key role in a CNN partnership for live coverage during America Votes 2004 from the NASDAQ MarketSite. She also managed a strategic collaboration with Reuters Group Limited that merged the NASDAQ Tower and Reuters Sign properties, creating one of the world’s largest outdoor digital display systems in the heart of Times Square.
