Mayer was born in the state of Wisconsin in the city of Wausau. He is a daughter for Margaret Mayer who was art teacher and he has Finnish descent. His father is Michael Mayer and he is environmental engineer and worked for the water companies. The grandfather, Clem Mayer suffered polio at the age of 7 and he was a mayor for Jackson in Wisconsin for over 32 years. She has a young brother and when she was still young, she was too shy and she was just in one after school activity every day. She was participating in Brownies, debate, swimming, piano, ice-skating and ballet. In the middle school and in high school, she did take the piano and ballet lessons and they taught her confidence, poise, discipline and criticism. When she was still young, she had interest in science and math.

While at Wausau West High School, she was at curling team and in precision dance team. She was excelling in physics, biology, calculus and chemistry. She was the part of the extracurricular activities and she was the president for Spanish Club in his high school. She worked as grocery clerk in high school and she was chosen to attend National Youth Science Camp at West Virginia.

According to her biography, she was planning to be a pediatric neurosurgeon and she took the pre-med classes of Stanford University. She switched the major to the pediatric neuroscience and started to study symbolic systems. This is the major for whom she combined with the computer science, linguistic, cognitive psychology and philosophy. While in the university, she was dancing for the ballet of the University and it is called Nutcracker. He was the member of the parliamentary debate and was volunteering for the Children’s hospital. She helped in bringing the computer science education to the schools of Bermuda. When she was in summer, she was the teacher of the symbolic system together with Eric S Roberts who was the supervisor and the class was received well and she was asked to do another class in the next summer. He graduated with Honors in the BS. Marissa Mayer got married and her husband is investor and lawyer Zachary Bogue. The wedding was in the year 2009, he said that she got pregnant and she got a baby boy. She gave a birth to a son. She has a net worth of 300 million dollars.
