Mark Zuckerberg is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist who was born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, in the United States. He was born to a psychiatrist named Karen and a dentist named Edward Zuckerberg. He grew up with three sisters named Randi, Donna, and Arielle in a small Westchester County village called Dobbs Ferry in New York. Zuckerberg attended Ardsley High School before transferring to the private school Phillips Exeter Academy, in New Hampshire. He also attended Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth summer camp. Zuckerberg stated on his college application that he could read and write French, Hebrew, Latin, and ancient Greek. He was also the captain of the university's fencing team. As early as middle school, Zuckerberg was writing computer code. He was even privately tutored by software developer David Newman. He went on to attend Harvard University where he launched the social media website Facebook before social media was even a known term.
He co-founded the company on February 4, 2004, with his roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Christ Hughes. By 2010, Facebook had made Zuckerberg one of Time magazine's 100 wealthiest and most influential people in the world. He began dating Priscilla Chan after meeting her at a fraternity party in 2003. They were married in Zuckerberg's backyard on May 19, 2012, and went on to have a daughter who they named Maxima Chan Zuckerberg.
