Mary Wiseman is an American actress who was born on July 30, 1985 and grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Wiseman wanted to be an actress from an early age and pursued her goal by attending the DC Shakespeare Theater's high school outreach program. She then went on to earn her BFA in Theater Arts at Boston University. Following her graduation from Boston University, Wiseman attended Juilliard School's Drama Division where she met her future "Star Trek: Discovery" co-star Mary Chieffo who was a fellow classmate at the time. While attending University, Wiseman appeared in several theatrical productions including Nitzan Halperin's "Sow and Weep" in 2008 at Boston University College of Fine Arts in New York, Ariel Carson's "I wanted It to Have a How & I Wanted it to Have a Verb", and Betsy/Lindsay's "Clybourne Park" in 2013.

After her establishing herself in theater, Wiseman went on to appear in several films, television shows, workshops, and video games. Wiseman is best known for her role as Sylvia Tilly in 2017s "Star Trek: Discovery" where she has appeared in a total of 13 episodes. She is also the voice actress of Sylvia Tilly in the video game "Star Trek: Online" which released in 2018.
