Marysol Castro

Marysol Castro was born on September 27, 1976, in New York, United States. She grew up in the Bronx, where she was raised by her Puerto Rican parents. From a young age, Castro was determined to pursue a career in journalism, a goal she committed to through dedication and perseverance.

She began her education at Public School 83, followed by Intermediate School 181. Castro then attended a Quaker boarding school in Pennsylvania, gaining valuable academic and personal development experiences. For her undergraduate education, she enrolled at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996. She later pursued her passion for journalism at Columbia University, where she completed a Master’s degree in journalism.

Broadcast Journalism Career

Marysol Castro has built an extensive career in television broadcasting. Before joining ABC, she worked as a reporter for WPIX, a CW-affiliated television station in New York City. She also contributed as a reporter for News 12 The Bronx, a local cable news channel. Castro’s range extends beyond journalism—she spent time teaching English language and literature at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2010, Castro joined CBS as the weekday weather forecaster for The Early Show, where she succeeded longtime weatherman Dave Price. She brought energy and professionalism to the role until the program's format changed in 2011.
