She also contributed as a reporter for News 12 The Bronx, a local cable news channel. Castro’s range extends beyond journalism—she spent time teaching English language and literature at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, New York.

In 2010, Castro joined CBS as the weekday weather forecaster for The Early Show, where she succeeded longtime weatherman Dave Price. She brought energy and professionalism to the role until the program's format changed in 2011.
