Matt Williams

Matt William was born in November 28, 1965 in Bishop, California, United States. His real name is Matthew Derrick Williams, but he is also known as Matt the Bat or The Big Marine. He did his early education in Nevada – Carson City High School, and attended college at University of Nevada – Las Vegas.

He married for the first time with a woman named Tracie with who has three children. He remarried in 1999 with Michelle Johnson. Their marriage lasted from January 1999 until July 2002. When it came to the reason of divorce, they both stated that it was because of irreconcilable differences. They had no children, so the divorce went smoothly. Their divorce became final in July 2002. Soon after, in 2003, Williams proposed to Erika Monroe, KTVK-TV’s anchor. She was also a TV host and creator of The Hopeless Housewife, a cooking and lifestyle website. They got married in 2003. They have one child and they live in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Baseball career

Although he was recruited by the NewYork Mets from his high school, he did not sign with the Mets. He attended college due to a baseball scholarship. During college he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He became famous quickly due to his good reflexes. It made him one of the premier fielders at third base. Between 1991 and 1997 he won 4 Gold Glove Awards.

He is known for his baseball career as third baseman. He is right handed. He played for San Francisco Giants, the Cleveland Indians and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Williams is also known for the fact that during 1989 and 2001 he was the only player who went to World Series with every team – in 1989 with the San Francisco Giants, in 1997 with the Cleveland Indians and in 2001 with Arizona Diamondbacks.

Currently he is in top 75 all-time players for career home runs and the top 150 all-time players for career RBIs

Arizona Diamondbacks

Matt Williams was one of Arizona Diamondback’s original members. He still holds the record for Diamondbacks most RBIs in one season (142) during the 1999 season. This record was also achieved by Luiz Gonzalez in 2001 but it was never overcome. Because he was a partial owner, he also had the title of Special Assistant to the General Partner

In 2007, he was on the list of players that used steroids. The list was included in the Mitchell Report. Williams was accused that in 2002 he bought from a Palm Beach clinic some drugs including human growth hormones and steroids. As a response to these allegations, Williams said that he used those substances in order to heal from an ankle injury.
