He married for the first time with a woman named Tracie with who has three children. He remarried in 1999 with Michelle Johnson. Their marriage lasted from January 1999 until July 2002. Although he was recruited by the NewYork Mets from his high school, he did not sign with the Mets. He attended college due to a baseball scholarship. During college he was drafted by the San Francisco Giants. He became famous quickly due to his good reflexes. It made him one of the premier fielders at third base. Between 1991 and 1997 he won 4 Gold Glove Awards.

He is known for his baseball career as third baseman. He is right handed. He played for San Francisco Giants, the Cleveland Indians and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
