Mauricio Pochettino

Pochettino started to get lucrative offers from big clubs for his stellar play. In 2001, Pochettino decided to sign a contract with PSG. PSG enticed him to join their club with money and a role as a regular starter. Pochettino played very well at the club for 2 years, racking up great stats and exciting the football crowds around the league. After his run with PSG, Pochettino went on to play for the French football club, Bordeaux. The stint with the French team was very short as it only lasted for half a season. Pochettino returned to his former club in the Spanish league, RCD Espanyol. He was welcomed back by his loving fans. He would spend his final two years as a player with RCD Espanyol and was proud to raise the domestic up in victory. It was a storybook ending for Pochettino as he retired from football with one of his former teams that believed in his ability.

Pochettino also played for the Argentina national team. He went to the World Cup with the team and played a couple of games as a starter. The team was knocked out of the cup in group stages. Unfortunately for Pochettino, Argentina did not have enough talent to make it further in the tournament.

Pochettino made the transition from player to coach. He was appointed as the manager of the Espanyol team in 2009. Pochettino was delighted to become the coach of the team that he previously played for. When he joined the club as a coach, Espanyol was fighting to stay in the league and their two managers had already been fired after the bad performance of the team.

Pochettino helped the team retain a position in the league and also beat Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the process. He soon became a fan favorite in the league and he was praised by the sports journalists and media. He left the team in 2013 after four years and joined Southampton. He stayed at the club for only one year and took the club to an eighth position finish that was the highest achieved by Southampton for a very long time.

His expert management and tactics caught the eye of many top clubs. He was highly sought after for his coaching ability. In 2014, Pochettino signed on to become the manager of the Tottenham Hotspurs. In 2016, Pochettino took the Hotspurs to their highest ranking ever when they finished in the 3rd spot. He has constructed a very good team that can beat the best teams in the league on any given day. Pochettino did so well, earning him a contract extension that will keep him with the club until 2021. Pochettino is a married man and currently lives in London with his wife and children. His salary is around $6 million per year which makes his net worth around 20 million.
