Melissa Peterman is an American actress and comedian who was born on July 1, 1971, in Edina, Minnesota, in the United States. She attended Minnesota State University, Mankato where she studied theater. Peterman landed the role of Madeline Monroe in "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" at the Hey City Theater. Peterman went on to rack up an impressive 600 stage performances. She continued to gain experience by writing and performing at Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis. During her time at the workshop, Peterman performed at the Chicago Improv Festival and the Big Stink Comedy Festival in Austin, Texas. She made her film debut in the 1996 film "Fargo" where she played the role of Hooker #2. Her big break came in 2001 when she was cast in the television series "Reba" alongside country music star Reba McEntire and actor Christopher Rich.

She remained on the show until its end in 2007. Peterman went on to appear in the film "Recipe for Disaster" and "How High". She was also cast in a comedy pilot starring Cedric the Entertainer. Peterson went on to rejoin her Reba co-star Reba McEntire in her country music tour as the opening act. She married John Brady on June 5, 1999, and the couple had their first son in 2005.
