Moises Henriques was born on 1 February 1987 in Portugal. His father, Alvaro Henriques, was a professional footballer. During Moises' early childhood, the family migrated to Australia, where he later attended Endeavour Sports High School. From a young age, Moises displayed a strong passion for cricket and quickly showed promise in the sport. He earned a scholarship during his school years, which supported his budding cricket career.
Moises began playing competitive cricket during his school years and quickly advanced to national youth circuits. He represented Australia in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where his all-round performance garnered attention. In the 2006 U-19 World Cup, he captained the Australian team, showcasing his leadership skills and cricketing prowess.
Throughout his tenure with the Under-19 team, Moises accumulated notable statistics, taking 35 wickets and scoring 377 runs in 17 matches. His ability to contribute both with the bat and the ball earned him recognition as a highly capable all-rounder in Australia’s emerging cricket landscape.
Moises made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2009 with the Kolkata Knight Riders. In the following season, he was signed by Delhi Daredevils, where he impressed with his consistency. Subsequently, he was picked up by the Mumbai Indians, continuing his involvement in the IPL, which helped boost his international profile.
Injuries, however, frequently disrupted his momentum. During one IPL match, he suffered a broken jaw following a collision with a teammate while attempting a catch. In 2015, he sustained a calf injury that again sidelined him, impacting his playing continuity.
