Benazir Bhutto was born on June 21, 1953 and died on December 27, 2007. She is famous for being the first woman to lead a democratic government in a nation where Muslim was the majority religion. She served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan from 1988 to 1990 in her first term and then from 1993 to 1996 in her second term. She tried to lead her country in a liberal and secular fashion.
She was assassinated on December 27, 2007. She gave a speech at a rally and then was leaving in a bulletproof car. When she stood up in the car to wave at the crowd, a gunman that was standing a few feet from the car shot at her before he launched a suicide vest that was packed with explosives.
