Namie Amuro was born in Naha, Okinawa, Japan, on 20th September, 1977. Her mother is Emiko Taira and her father is not known yet. Namie’s parents had three children together and she is one of the three. Namie’s mother raised her all three children alone after her father divorced her mother while Namie was just 4 years old. Namie had no goal or wish of joining the musical field but her talents were noticed by Masayuki Makino who owns the Okinawa Actors School, so he admitted Namie in this school.

Namie started learning in the Okinawa Actors School and after two years Makino added her to an idol group of singers named as Super Monkey’s which consisted of four more girls named: Anna Makino, Minako Ameku, Hisako Arakaki and Nanako Takushi. Namie started to gain more and more reputation after this, in the field of acting and modeling. The group Super Monkey’s wasn’t much popular, so to be well recognized by more people, they changed the group name to “Namie Amuro with Super Monkey’s” because of Namie’s popularity. Namie also starred in some small films and TV series. After the launch of the Super Monkey’s single “Try Me” on January 25, 1995, the group gained a lot of success and fame.

The song was produced by Dave Rodgers ( Italian eurobeat producer ) and Max Matsuura ( Japanese businessman ). This song was so successful that it was voted on number 8 by the Oricon Singles Chart. The song remained in the list of top 200 for about 25 weeks. Even after so much success, the other four members of the group separated out and created their own group which was named MAX, which was under Avex Trax, the Japanese record label. Hence, Amuro formed two solo songs under Toshiba-EMI before she worked under Avex Trax.

Amuro then worked under Avex Trax and was assigned to work with the Japanese musician named Tetsuya Komuro. She released her first solo song with Avex on 25th October, 1995, it was the single “Body feels exit”. This single became very popular in no time and more than 881,000 copies were sold at that time. After this huge success, Amuro kept on working with Avex and kept on climbing the stairs of success and fame. She also won the Golden Arrow Award in 1995 for her famous singles.

On 22nd October, 1997, Namie Amuro declared about her marriage with Japanese musician and a band member of TRF, Masaharu Sam Maruyama. She also announced her three months pregnancy in a conference, before marriage. She got married in 1977. Later, she changed her name officially to Namie Maruyama. But she used Namie Amuro as professional name. Namie Amuro gave birth to her son on 19th May, 1998 and he was named Haruto. Her marriage lasted for nearly five years and the divorced Sam in 2002. Earlier her husband had parental authority for their son but later after Namie Amuro competed for the authority, she got the authority of Haruto. Amuro stayed away from music for about one year after her marriage. she then came back in 1998 after giving birth to her son.

Namie Amuro dated Ken Miyake after her divorce. Ken Miyake is a Japanese TV celebrity and also member of V6 which is a Japanese idol group. Amuro also dated Atsushi Tamura who is a Japanese comedian.

Namie Amuro made a comeback release after giving birth to her son, she released her single “ I have never seen” in 1998. After this Amuro kept on gaining more and more popularity and also won a lot of awards for her work.

Later on March 17, news was reported that Amuro’s mother, Emiko Taira was murdered. Amuro postponed all her works and went back in Okinawa. After sometime she continued with her musical profession and became more successful.

Later in July, 2002, Amuro got divorced from Sam and it was said that the divorce occurred because of differences between the couple and also due to some issues regarding Sam’s family. Some of Amuro’s best songs are- “Can you celebrate? ”, “All for you”, “Wild”, “How to be a girl” and the list goes on.
