He met his wife, Noelene Edwards in 1958 and got married to her, in the same year. They announced their separation in 1981. A year after the divorce, they got married again. In 1986, they again wanted to end the marriage and filed for the separation. In 1990, he married Linda Kozlowski, an actress. He has five children with Noelene and a child with Linda. In 2013, he got separated from Linda stating the reason as, irreconcilable differences. Linda requested for child support, spousal support and full custody of the child.

He got married to Noelene when he was just 18. By the age of 22, he fathered three children and drifted from one job to another. It was said that after he started growing in fame, his love for Noelene started to decrease and he divorced her. He got reconciled with her again, but left her for his younger girlfriend, Linda. There is an 19 year gap between them and their wedding was very controversial, at that time. After he stopped acting in 2001, things started to take a bad shape in his marital life. It was said that he got married to Noelene, the same year when Linda was born. It is unclear as what motivated him to get married to Noelene again. His affair with Linda was the reason for the separation. It was a love at first sight when he saw her wearing a one piece bathing suit. It was said that he kept the relationship secret from the media and his family and started dating her immediately after the separation. Infidelity was not mentioned in his separation settlement with Noelene. The separation was said to be ugly, but there is no information about the settlement, financial details and the child custody.
