Pedro Pascal, a Chilean actor, was born on April 2, 1975, in Santiago, Chile. His father, José Balmaceda, was a fertility doctor, and his mother, Verónica Pascal Ureta, was a child psychologist. Both were supporters of President Salvador Allende and were involved in the opposition to the U.S.-backed military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
Shortly after Pedro's birth, the family sought political asylum and initially relocated to Denmark before eventually settling in the United States. Pascal spent much of his childhood in Orange County, California, and San Antonio, Texas. He pursued his interest in acting at the Orange County School of the Arts and later attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Pedro Pascal began his acting career in the late 1990s, with one of his early appearances in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He subsequently landed roles in a variety of television shows, including The Good Wife, Homeland, The Mentalist, and Graceland.
His breakthrough role came in 2014 when he portrayed Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of HBO's acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones. The character, also known as the Red Viper, garnered Pascal widespread recognition for his charismatic and complex performance.
