Siddle’s consistent performances eventually earned him selection in Victoria’s first-class team. His impressive form continued at the domestic level, leading to his selection for Australia A’s tour of India. His stint in India was successful, helping to pave the way for his inclusion in the senior Australian team. Despite limited first-class experience, he was named in the Test squad for a series against the West Indies and made his debut in October 2008 against India, where he took three wickets in his first Test match.

Rise in International Cricket

In the 2008 home series, Siddle took four wickets against South Africa in front of Australian fans, although the team was unable to secure a win. One of the standout moments of his career occurred on his 26th birthday, 25 November 2010, during the Ashes series against England. That day, he claimed a hat-trick, becoming the ninth Australian to achieve this milestone in Test cricket—an achievement that further solidified his place in the team.

In 2009, Siddle recorded one of his best bowling performances by taking five wickets against South Africa, helping propel Australia to victory against a formidable team. That same year, he delivered another notable performance by taking five wickets for just 21 runs against England. In 2010, he continued his fine form by claiming six wickets in an Ashes match, contributing to Australia’s win. Notably, his first Test wicket was the legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar in 2008. He reached his 100th Test wicket by dismissing Umesh Yadav of India and achieved his 200th in 2015 when he removed Doug Bracewell of New Zealand.
