Ronald Wayne is most well-known for co-founding Apple Computer along with Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs in 1976. However, he quickly sold his stake in the company back to Jobs and Wozniak for a price of $800. If he had retained his share it would now be worth over $100 billion. Wayne was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 17, 1934. He went to school to become a technical draftsman at the School of Industrial Art in New York.
After graduating, he moved to California and started his own slot machine business. The business folded shortly thereafter and Wayne focused his efforts on engineering. While working at Atari, he met Steve Jobs with whom he and Steve Wozniak would later go on to found Apple Computer. After just 2 weeks, Wayne sold his 10% stake in the company, fearing that creditors could go after his assets if the business failed. He worked at various companies until his retirement in Nevada.
