Background

Born Ryan Destiny Irons on January 8, 1995, in Detroit, Michigan, she displayed a strong interest in performing arts from a young age. While in junior high school, she formed a musical trio called New Limit along with her friend Jasmine Pore and another close friend. Managed by her mother, Dawn Irons, the group auditioned for America's Got Talent in 2011 and advanced to the third round. However, they chose to withdraw from the competition, citing discomfort with the process.

Music Career

Destiny began formally pursuing her music career in 2011 by signing with an independent label based in Michigan. She supplemented her development with voice and dance lessons. In 2013, she joined the girl group Love Dollhouse, which signed with All Def Music, a label founded by Russell Simmons, Steve Rifkind, and Brian Robbins. The group gained attention with their single "Can I." After Love Dollhouse disbanded in 2015, Destiny signed a solo deal with Capitol Records, signaling the start of her career as a solo recording artist.

Acting Career

Ryan Destiny's acting career began to take shape around the same time as her music endeavors. She initially won a recurring role as Tiana Brown on the Fox series Empire, created by Lee Daniels. However, contractual obligations with All Def Music prevented her from accepting the part. Her breakthrough came in 2016 when Daniels cast her in a primary role as Alexandra Crane in the Fox musical drama Star. Her portrayal of Alex, a determined singer navigating the challenges of the music industry, garnered critical acclaim and expanded her reach beyond music.
