Her personal life is highly tragic and she can be an inspiration for all the children who are facing troubles because of their parent’s unsuccessful marriage. Starting from her childhood days, she had faced several difficulties and her life is full of traumas. Her twin sister can’t survive because of premature birth and she always feels that her dead sister is her angel guardian.  She gives much importance to family relations and when she wanted to rejoin the family members, her father was attacked by her mother. Though his father was not severely injured and survived, these incidents in the early stage of her life made permanent impact on her mind.

She dated Russell Armstrong for seven years and they finally got married. But just three years after the marriage, her husband committed suicide because of clinical depression. When she was revealing about her husband in the Talk Show, she became emotional and it shows her affection and love towards her husband. Though there were rumors that she was pregnant at the time of her husband death, she neither condemned nor confirmed it.

Education

From her childhood days, she is a clever student and because of her tragic family conditions, she decided to work in a sector that makes people happily. She had pursued Master’s degree in Media Management and Mass Communication before taking up her career. While studying at the University of Illinois, she is one of the brightest students of her class.

Professional Career

She is the first woman to reach the finals of Miller Lite Comedy Search and this immensely helped her in showcasing her talent. After winning the BET female comedian award in 1995, she never looked back. She acted in few films and her role in I Got the Hook Up released in 1998 got really positive response from critics and audiences. Once again she proved her mettle by showcasing her talent in the movie Beauty Shop which was released in 2005.

She is very active on all the popular social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter etc. and she regularly shares her thoughts and feelings and also expresses her views on burning topics. She occasionally answers the questions asked by her fans. She supports Republican Party and she campaigned in favor of Barak Obama in 2012 US presidential elections.
