Shiri Spear

After teaching pre-algebra to seventh-grade students, Shiri decided to follow her passion for meteorology. She earned a Master of Science degree in atmospheric and environmental science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2007.

Broadcast Meteorology Career

Spear began her professional meteorology career at WWLP-TV 22 in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she worked as a weather forecaster for over three years. In 2010, she moved to Miami, Florida, to join WTVJ, the NBC-owned station. While at WTVJ, she focused on forecasting tropical weather and was part of the team that received two Emmy Award nominations for their hurricane coverage.

FOX 25 Weather Team

Shiri currently serves as a meteorologist for the FOX 25 Weather Team, part of the Boston-based Fox television affiliate WFXT. Her on-air forecasts are widely respected for their accuracy and accessibility, contributing to her reputation as one of the region’s leading weather professionals.

Professional Credentials

In 2012, Shiri Spear was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) accreditation from the American Meteorological Society, a significant professional milestone that underscores her academic background and forecasting expertise.

Personal Life

Shiri is married and the mother of two daughters, Gabrielle and Mia. In her personal time, she enjoys watching television with her family, with Game of Thrones listed among their favorite programs. Her hobbies include playing volleyball and indulging in chocolate, and she has mentioned actor Chris Hemsworth as her celebrity crush.
