Song Hye-Kyo's entertainment career began in 1996 when she was in high school. That year, she won first place in the SunKyung Smart Model Contest, which led to her debut as a model for a school uniform company. Her modeling success opened the door to acting, and she secured a minor role in the television drama First Love.

She gained further experience and recognition through various sitcoms and dramas, most notably Soonpoong Clinic. However, it was her performance in the 2000 drama Autumn in My Heart, co-starring Won Bin and Song Seung-heon, that catapulted her to widespread fame.

Her popularity grew further in 2003 with her lead role alongside Lee Byung-hun in the drama All In. In 2004, she starred with the singer Rain in the romantic comedy Full House, which became a major hit across Asia and solidified her status as a Hallyu star.

On the strength of Full House, Song transitioned into film with My Girl and I. Her film credits include The Crossing: Part 1 and Part 2, The Queens, My Brilliant Life, The Grandmaster, A Reason to Live, Countdown, Camellia – Love for Sale, Make Yourself at Home, and Hwang Jin Yi.

Noteworthy television roles include Descendants of the Sun, That Winter, the Wind Blows, Worlds Within, Hotelier, and Full House. Though Song Hye-Kyo is not a professional singer, she has also appeared in several music videos, including Once Upon a Day, Curious Destiny, and This Promise.

Song Hye-Kyo was romantically linked to actor Lee Byung-hun during their time filming All In in 2003, but they broke up in 2004. In 2009, she was also reported to be in a relationship with actor Hyun Bin, her co-star in Worlds Within. However, the couple remained largely private and eventually parted ways. As of now, she is not married.
