Before she went to WSB-TV, Sophia Choi worked as the 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. anchor at the KVBC-TV station, which is a NBC affiliate in Las Vegas. She was able to win two Electronic Media Awards for her excellent anchoring at NBC. Sophia Choi was the prime time anchor for CNN Headline News before she moved to NBC in Las Vegas.

At CNN, she covered many breaking stories including the Iraq War and Afghanistan war, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Hurricane Wilma in Florida. The natural disasters were very tragic but Sophia Choi wanted to give her viewers a peak into what was happening on the ground level to help the victims.
