Marriage to Robert Downey Jr.

While working on Gothika, Susan met actor Robert Downey Jr. Despite his well-publicized struggles with addiction and legal issues during the 1990s and early 2000s, the two formed a romantic connection. Downey proposed to Susan on November 5, 2003, the day before her 30th birthday. They were married on August 27, 2005, in a Jewish ceremony held in Amagansett, New York.
