Born on 19 May 1941 to a Russian mother and an English father Tania was interested in acting at a very young age. Her mother's name was Olga Mironoff and her father's name was Henry Mallet who together lived in Blackpool. She did her schooling from a local school in Blackpool later she enrolled in Lucy Clayton's School Of Modeling. She wanted to be an actress and had the figure and persona to be one. She started doing modeling at an age of 16. Her modeling career was going good and she was earning around 2000 pound per week. She was at the peak of her modeling career in between 1950 to 1960. Cubby Broccoli found her when someone sent him some images of her in a bikini. He was very impressed with her and so decided to cast her in the next Bond movie.
He later approached her and told her about his plans and about the Bond movie. She was auditioned for the Bond movie From Russia With Love. She, however, was not able to get the role as her accent was English and the director wanted the actress to have a Russian accent. Surprisingly although Tania's mother was from Russia she could not get a Russian accent as she lived in England for the most of her life so her accent was primarily English. Also, surprising is the fact that the lead role was the James Bond movie From Russia With Love was given to an Italian actress who had an Italian and not Russian accent.
Casting an Italian actress for a Russian role seemed a bad idea for the directors as they had to redub the voice of the actress to seem more Russian. Tania was later approached to play another role in the next Bond movie Goldfinger. She was offered an amount of 50 pounds a week for her role. The amount was laughable as she was earning around 2000 pounds a week from her modeling career. But she anyhow wanted to work in that movie since modeling career was very uncertain and could end anytime so she asked the producers to increase the money. Her salary was later increased 150 pounds a week after much negotiating, this amount was what she earned in a day from her modeling career.
She started shooting for the Goldfinger leaving her modeling career behind. She was stuck with a very bad phase during her shooting when her longtime boyfriend died. She was heartbroken by this but still carried on to shoot the film. She has been married twice, her first marriage didn't go well and so she decided to have divorce she later married her second husband with whom she is married till today.
