Tedy Lacap Bruschi was born on June 9, 1973 in San Francisco, California. His ancestors emigrated from Italy to US. His last name comes from the Italian city Bruschi di Sopra. He has strong Italian descent and some of his relatives were Filipino.
His first education Tedy received at the Roseville High School (Roseville, California). At that time, he has been already dedicated to sport. He participated in a school football team, has been a competitor in a wrestling competitions, he practiced also track and field. He has been strong and tall man, so he was accepted to school teams without any doubt. His first football team was Roseville Tigers. He served there as a defensive tackle, so his body measurements really came in handy there.
After high school, Tedy Bruschi entered to the University of Arizona. Right after he enrolled the University, he joined their local college football team Arizona Wildcats and left it only after he finished the University. He has played for that team from 1991 to 1995, and showed great results. During these four years in college, he compiled 185 total tackles and even tied the NCAA Division I-A record. In 1995, right before leaving the team, he won Morris Trophy in the category of Pacific-10 Conference's best defensive lineman.
Apart from it, Tedy got first-team All-Pac-10 honors, second-team All-America honors, and many other honors. Eventually, he has become the most valuable player of Arizona Wildcats football team and in 2013 has been included to College Football Hall of Fame.
After he graduated from the University, he started his professional career in football. In 1996, he received an invitation to join the New England Patriots. He has played for this team from 1996 to 2008.
After a brilliant career in that team, in 2009 Sunday Night Football announced that Tedy Bruschi is going to retire from football. On August 31, 2009, Tedy declared that it is not the rumor, and he really is going to leave from sport.
