Tim was arrested again in 2008 for first-degree terroristic threatening and indecent exposure. This incident occurred following an altercation at the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Police responded to a call that Chapman was fondling himself in a parked vehicle around 9:00 PM on January 3, 2008. The security guard on duty had instructed Chapman to exit the vehicle and put his clothes on. Instead of following orders, Chapman allegedly drove his truck aggressively at the security guard and jumped a curb. Tim was initially charged with second-degree attempted murder, but it was reduced to terroristic threatening over time.
Although witnesses clearly narrated the events, Chapman’s lawyer argued that incident was just a big misunderstanding. He claimed Tim had accidentally spilled orange juice on his pants and had climbed into the backseat of this truck to change his clothes. The presence of the security guard startled him and he panicked, never intending any harm to the man. Chapman was eventually acquitted of both the indecent exposure and terroristic threatening charges in early 2009. It was speculated that the negative press from the trial, as well as allegations of “celebrity favoritism” surrounding his acquittal had smeared his public image and made the producers of his show uneasy. Combined with the fiasco in Mexico, the producers of Dog the Bounty Hunter were wary of keeping him on, and asked him to take a break from the show. Official reports claimed Tim voluntarily took time off in order to focus on being a father to his young children. However, fans were thrilled when Tim made his return on the show's sixth season. He remained as part of the cast without any additional issues until Dog the Bounty Hunter ended production in 2012.
Despite his sabbatical, Tim Chapman profited tremendously from the work he did during his tenure. His estimated net worth is around $3 million, most of that coming from his 93 appearances on Dog the Bounty Hunter. In addition to his role on the show, Chapman appeared in the 1989 movie Empire of Ash III. He was also the subject of an episode of E! True Hollywood Story in 2010.
Chapman was previously married to Davina Chapman nee Faletoi. They are parents to four children: Summer Rain, Autumn Sky, Thunder Cloud, and Storm Hunter. He also has another son, Tim Chapman Jr., from a previous relationship. However, after allegations of infidelity on Davina's part, the couple filed for divorce in 2010. Allegedly she had been impregnated by another man, causing the issues between Chapman and herself. Tim retained custody of all his children following his divorce and now lives his life as a single father.
