Clark was the first person to capture the Ethiopian Famine in the year 1984 and during the year 1989, he witnessed the wall fall in Berlin and moreover he was one of the prideful Canadian Journalist at Yugoslavia while the NATO plunged the war action against Serbia during the year 1999. In the year 2010, 7TH September CTV disclosed that Tom was quitting the network since he had to pursue many other opportunities. Later in the year 2011, Clark was nominated as the Chief Political Correspondent of the Global Television Network. With all, Tom Clark has been the senior SJA Member who is greatly regarded in the business arena. He was also a sports editor for many news channels like The Times, Daily Mail and Sporting Life.
In January 2017, Tom Clark announced his retirement from journalism. Tom Clark spent the final few minutes of his last television broadcast to share these thoughts with his viewers. In an article posted on Global News, Tom Clark says: "After six seasons of The West Block and 45 years in journalism, I’m stepping back.
This profession has given me an incredible life. I have traveled the world and have seen the best of it and I’ve certainly seen the worst of it. Few people have the privilege of watching history as it’s being made and I was one of those happy few." Tom spends a few moments reflecting on his past history and the achievements he has earned.
Clark continues: "I was there when the Berlin Wall came down and when the tanks rolled into Tiananmen Square, among the first to see and report on a famine in Ethiopia that changed the way the world reacted to crises in the third world, reported from eight war zones and 33 countries, covered more than a dozen federal elections and brought you countless stories, big and small."
His amazing career behind him and new adventures and prospects in front, Tom has done and seen it all. With his last few words of wisdom, he said goodbye to his viewers one last time. He is quoted as saying: "For all of our troubles, all of our scandals and disagreements, we should try to keep things in perspective. In global terms, our problems are small. Our country works better than most, perhaps better than any other. We should always aim higher. But let’s remember how blessed we really are.
And with that, I say thank you and goodbye."
And with that, an amazing mans career has come to an end. We all should be very thankful for the sacrifices he has made. Surely the job of delivering these stories to the public took a toll on him and his personal life, but he never complained and never wavered. The world is a better place because of his work, and that we can all be thankful for.
