He was born in 1955 and American by birth. He is a native of Auburn which is a small county in California State. Most of his schooling was done in San Francisco and he then moved to New York chasing his dream. He wanted to become an actor from his college days and chosen his career purely out of passion. He never shared his family history with media and always keeps his family away from publicity. He occasionally comes along with this wife to award functions and they were blessed with three songs. He is never been in news for dating anyone and stays away from affairs and extra marital relations.

Career

In his total career, he appeared in more than fifty movies and at least thirty TV shows.  His acting career started at American Conservatory Theatre, San Francisco and his acting career is not so smooth. He had faced several struggles in the initial days of his acting career but never thought of going away from his dream. His silver screen journey started with a small role in The Hunt for Red October movie and after this film also, he acted in several uncredited roles. Tombstone, L.A. Confidential, Wildflowers are some of the hit films he acted before 2000.

The movie Gladiator released in 2000 is said to be the turning point of his career. The role of Quintus in award winning gladiator made him popular overnight and he shared screen with several noted actors in this move. After 2000, he played some important roles in The Bourne Supremacy, The Roommate, Romeo & Juliet, The Dark Knight Rises, etc.

He had also worked in Off Broadway theaters and appeared in numerous stage shows. He had worked with many popular directors in his film career and the list also includes Lina Wertmüller and Carlo Verdone. He had also worked under the direction of Koreyoshi Kurahara, a Japanese director. Ridley Scott is one of his favorite directors and he always says that Gladiator film unit is just like a family for him. The cruel role portrayed by him in the television serial Crimes once again proved that he can play any kind of role.
