In 2016, it was announced that Coombs would join the cast of the Shonda Rhimes-produced ABC series Still Star-Crossed. In this continuation of Romeo and Juliet, he took on the role of Count Paris. Although the series was short-lived, Coombs' involvement demonstrated the continued demand for his talents in historical and dramatic storytelling.
