Jamell Maurice Demons was born on May 1, 1999 in Gifford, FL. He started transferring unique tunes to SoundCloud when he was only 15, developing a style that bound together melodically sung vocals with crude raps about savagery, crime, sex, cash, and the difficult conditions the high schooler was experiencing.
YNW Melly was detained for a stretch in 2017 on weapons charges for a shooting he was associated with at the age of 16. Once released from prison, he turned out to be more dynamic than people could have imagined, dropping different singles and projects, including tracks like "Murder on My Mind," "Catching Feelings," and the Collect Call EP.

Melly disclosed to Genius that he wrote the tune while in prison and how he nearly didn't finish on recording it, With his ubiquity developing, Melly took to Instagram in December 2018 to post a selfie of himself with Kanye, depicting West as the "GOAT" in the subtitle. Their subsequent collab, 'Multiple Personalities', was released in January 2019, charting at No.73 and going gold. Both Kanye and Melly appear in its Cole Bennett-directed video while the pair return with AutoTuned harmonies. The tune tackles the subject of psychological wellness battles.
Melly released his most recent album collection 'We All Shine' in January 2019. It arrived at number 27 in the US charts. Pitchfork gave a positive review of the album saying Melly's capacity originates from changing over gravity into eagerness, making sweet things of sharp circumstances. YNW Melly is able to make any worn-out series of words pop.
One week before his arrest, he released a song called ‘Gang (First Day Out)’.
YNW Melly has not revealed any public information about his personal and private relationships.
In April 2020, YNW Melly requested to be released from the Broward County Jail for clinical reasons subsequent to testing positive for coronavirus. He is accused of killing two of his companions, Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. in 2018. Prosecutors are looking for capital punishment if he's proven liable.
