Showing up in the UFC in April 2013, Romero won his first battle against Clifford Starks by knockout in the first round. It was a close bout and the fans were angry when the fan favorite Yoel, ended up losing. When Costa took the mic to give his post fight interview, he had to wait a few minutes for the crowd to quiet down before he could speak.

Romero has a great family and he is a father of three astounding children. He doesn't speak much about his family but his better half and children are living in Cuba.
