Alviro Petersen

Alviro Petersen was born in the year 1980 and he is a cricketer of South Africa. He plays in the domestic cricket of South Africa in Highveld Lions and for England at Lancashire. He is right-handed batsman and he represented his country in Twenty20, One Day International and Test. He is a captain of Highveld Lions in the South African Domestic Cricket.

According to his biography, Alviro Petersen was born and grew up in Gelvandale Township of Port Elizabeth while he attended the high school of the same state together with Ashwell Prince who is also South African Test Batsman. He started to play in the level of the First class cricket in the year 2001 and when he represented the Northern Cricket Team. He was a player for South Africa A and then reached ODI squad of South Africa in the year 2006 when he played two matches with Zimbabwe.

The Test debut was in 2010 when he played in Kolkata against India and he was able to score a century. He became a third player who was able to score a century while playing a test debut. Others are Jacques Rudolph and Andrew Hudson. After sometime, he started to play in Kings of Khulna for NCL Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh. He continued and played three Tests with tour of The West Indies in South Africa. The two tests series were against United Arab Emirates and Pakistan. He played also against India and failed to score any century in all the three series. He got dropped for the two test home series while playing against Australia in the year 2011.

Petersen signed to play for Glamorgan County Cricket Club for English County Season when he replaced Jamie Dalymple to be the captain of the county. He was the top run scorer for each competition and he was able to score a double hundred with the first class cricket. He became the top scorer of the club for each of their competition. He was able to score a double hundred with the first cricket while playing at the Oval with Surrey, for which he became Player of the year.

Afterwards, he returned to play for South Africa toward the end of County season and played for Highveld Lions. After winning with high scores, he got recalled to join South Africa while playing a Test against Sri Lanka and he replaced Ashwell Prince who had been dropped. Alviro Petersen had been involved into cases of match fixing and banned for two years but he always said that he is innocent. However, he admitted to cover up the match fixing done by other players. He announced the retirements from the international cricket after playing with the West Indies in 2015. He is married and his wife is Samantha Peteren.
