Aldis Alexander Basil Hodge was born in 1986 in Onslow County, North Carolina. He is the son of Aldis Basil Hodge and Yolette Evangeline Richardson, both of whom served in the U.S. Marine Corps. His mother is originally from Florida, and his father is of Dominican descent. He has a younger brother, Edwin Hodge, who is also an actor.
Hodge began exploring his artistic talents at a young age, starting with the violin and clarinet. As he grew older, he focused more on the violin and purchased his first instrument at the age of 18. In addition to acting, he is a dedicated painter, writer, and watch designer, showcasing his creativity in multiple disciplines.
Aldis Hodge first gained widespread recognition for his role as Alec Hardison on the TNT series Leverage, a role he began on his 21st birthday in 2007. His performance earned him a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor on Television in 2010. Although he did not win—Aaron Paul took the award for his role in AMC’s Breaking Bad—Hodge's portrayal solidified his place as a versatile actor in television.
In 2015, he portrayed MC Ren in the critically acclaimed biopic Straight Outta Compton. His other television credits include roles such as Mike in AMC's The Walking Dead, Voodoo on Friday Night Lights, and a guest appearance as Derwin on The Game.
