Early Life and Background

Alexa Davalos was born on May 28, 1982, in Paris, France. She is the daughter of American parents: photographer Jeff Dunas and actress Elyssa Davalos. Her paternal family includes Jewish immigrants from Russia and Lithuania. Raised in a culturally rich and bohemian environment, Davalos spent her youth moving between New York City, Paris, Italy, and Los Angeles. Eventually, she chose to settle in Manhattan to pursue her artistic ambitions.

Modeling and Artistic Discovery

While in New York, Davalos began working as a model, appearing in photographs by renowned fashion photographers, including Peter Lindbergh. Although modeling opened doors for her in the entertainment industry, it was during this period that she developed a passionate interest in acting—a pursuit that soon became her central focus.

Transition into Acting

In the early 2000s, Davalos relocated to Los Angeles to concentrate fully on her acting career. She began landing guest roles on television, including appearances on Angel (1999) and Undeclared (2001). From 2015 to 2019, Davalos starred as Juliana Crain, the lead character in Amazon Studios' acclaimed series The Man in the High Castle. She later appeared in the second season of the Netflix series The Punisher alongside actor Josh Stewart.

Davalos met actor Josh Stewart while filming The Punisher, and the two married on May 19, 2019. The couple separated in 2024. They do not have children together.
