Alicia Roman is known as an American meteorologist She is most famous for her work at NBC Chicago.
From the time she was little, Alicia Roman got interested in the weather and started to develop a little secret. She didn’t want to seem nerdy for being so interested in the weather. Since most of the other kids were wishing to become doctors, firemen, or athletes, she thought her desire to be a weather reporter was not cool like the other kids. The only people she would share her secret with were her parents.
Alicia loved to check the weather forecast when she was a young girl. She was fascinated by all the things that that the weather reporter spoke about on TV. She was amazed by her the weather reporter could predict the future. She later learned that they used technology and science to predict the forecast. She fell in love with weather reporting when she found out that the weather reporters actually were making educated predictions and not just guessing like fortune tellers. When she realized that there was a science behind it, she could see that there was actually a path to a career. She just needed to get focused on science which she didn’t have a problem because she always enjoyed it.
After completing high school, Alicia went on to complete a degree in Broadcast Journalism at Penn State University and she also studied Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State University.
Alicia married Nick Scafiezzo on November 28, 2015. They were deeply in love before they tied the knot and the bond was even stronger after they got married. Their friends and family say that they are inseparable.
After their wedding, they decided to have their honeymoon in January of 2016. One of the places they visited was the Maldives Islands. They also visited Thailand. Thailand presented them with many opportunities to experience a new country. They got to try food that they never tried before. Nick and Alicia were always fans of the Thai restaurants they frequented in the United States. They were also amazed by how affordable all the food was. They were able to buy excellent and high-quality dishes for the third of the price that they would have paid in the United States.
The first weather related job Alicia held was working for the WHIZ-TV station, located in Ohio. After that stint, she moved to South Carolina for another opportunity but was not able to find work. She started to work on weekend evenings for WISH-TV as a meteorologist which is located in Indianapolis.
After getting experience on small stations, Alicia finally got her big break when she was hired as a meteorologist for NBC Chicago. She was the weather reporter for morning weekends initially until being given more time slots throughout the week.
Alicia was given the AMS Seal of Approval in 2009 and she is a member of the American Metrological Society.
Alicia is active in humanitarian efforts and she enjoys lending her support to cancer patients. Her mother is a cancer survivor so the disease really hits home with her. She wants to encourage businesses and organizations to fund research to find a cure for the disease.
