Stage Career and the Steppenwolf Theatre

Morton has been a prominent figure in the Chicago theater scene throughout her career. In 1997, she became a core member of the renowned Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where she contributed significantly to various productions. Among her notable performances are roles in Awake and Sing, Love-Lies-Bleeding, The Pillowman, Dublin Carol, American Buffalo, and Clybourne Park.

Broadway Recognition and Tony Award Nominations

Morton made her Broadway debut playing Nurse Ratched opposite Gary Sinise in the revival of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, a production that received considerable acclaim. She originated the role of Barbara in Tracy Letts's August: Osage County, earning a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award nomination for her performance.
