Early Life and Education

Born on July 7, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, Anahit Misak Kasparian was raised in the Reseda neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. Her parents are Armenian immigrants who instilled in her a strong appreciation for education and cultural heritage.

Kasparian graduated from Valley Alternative Magnet High School in Van Nuys in 2004. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from California State University, Northridge. She later returned to the same university to complete a Master’s degree in Political Science, further solidifying her foundation in political analysis and media studies.

Media Career and The Young Turks

Kasparian began her career in journalism as an assistant producer at CBS Radio’s Los Angeles stations KFWB and KNX. She later worked as a reporter and content creator for several platforms, including AOL News, Tidal TV, On Point, and YouTube. Her early experience in diverse media environments laid the groundwork for her current role in independent journalism.

In 2007, at the age of 20, she joined The Young Turks initially as a fill-in host. Over time, Kasparian became one of the show’s primary voices, eventually assuming the role of co-host and producer alongside founder Cenk Uygur. Broadcasting both online and on Sirius XM Satellite Radio, the show has become one of the most influential progressive platforms globally, covering politics, economics, lifestyle, pop culture, and social issues.
