Career

Mitchell was born in a Jewish family and both her parents were well settled. Her father was a CEO in a furniture manufacturer company and mother held a reputed position as an administrator at the New York Institute of Technology. She completed her high school for New Rochelle and attained a degree in arts from the University of Pennsylvania. She stepped into her media life with her career as a reported in KYW radio channels. In 1978 she joined NBC news as a correspondent and then moved up into the post of chief congressional correspondent following her wonderful coverage of the Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident and also the White House.

Personal Life

Mitchell was married to Gil Jackson and the relationship ended in 1970’s. She is now married to Alan Greenspan who was the Chairman of the former Federal Reserve Board. She dated Alan for over a year and finally tied the knot in 1997 when she was in her 50s. She is 20 years younger than Greenspan, but the couple have a successful married life. After about 30 years of togetherness, there are talks that the couple is planning for a divorce. Sources have stated that Mitchell wants to have children and is planning of adoption while Greenspan is against the idea. She had faced breast cancer in the year 2011 and fought it out rather boldly as it was diagnosed in the early stage and treated effectively. With a net worth of over $5 million and an annual salary of $750,000 she is independent enough to adopt a child as a single mother.
