Early Life and Beginnings in Football

Andrés Guardado, born on September 28, 1986, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, began his football journey at a young age. Demonstrating natural talent early on, he joined Club Atlas's youth academy when he was just seven years old. Standing at 1.69 meters tall, Guardado developed quickly and made his professional debut with Club Atlas in Mexico’s Primera División, appearing in two complete seasons before attracting international attention.

Professional Debut and Rise in Europe

Guardado made his league debut in 2005 in a home match against C.F. Pachuca. His performances caught the eye of European scouts, and in 2007, after speculation involving a potential transfer to Real Madrid, he signed with Deportivo La Coruña for a reported transfer fee of €7 million. He was officially presented in July 2007 and was given jersey number 18. He debuted in August the same year in a match against UD Almería, which ended in a 0–3 defeat. Despite the loss, he completed the season with five goals in 26 appearances.

During his time with Deportivo, the team qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup and achieved a 3–0 home victory over Feyenoord. In the 2010–2011 season, Guardado made around 20 appearances. He concluded his stint at Deportivo in the 2011–2012 season, contributing significantly by scoring 11 goals, helping the team secure promotion back to La Liga. In 2012, he transferred to Valencia CF on a four-year contract.
