Career Breakthrough and Notable Roles

Coulby's first significant television appearance came in 2001 when she acted in the comedy series 'Orrible, a vehicle for British comedian Johnny Vaughan. She had previously appeared in the paranormal reality series Scariest Places on Earth, in an episode where she portrayed a student who encountered a ghost.

Her major breakthrough came when she was cast as Guinevere "Gwen" in the BBC fantasy drama Merlin. Initially playing a humble maidservant, her character evolves into Queen Guinevere over the course of the story. Coulby appeared in all five seasons of the show, from 2008 to 2012, earning acclaim for her portrayal.

In 2013, she starred as jazz singer Jessie in the period drama Dancing on the Edge, written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff. The mini-series aired on BBC Two and featured a distinguished ensemble cast including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Goode, Jacqueline Bisset, Anthony Head, and John Goodman.
