Angela Yee

Angela Yee, born in 1976, is an American radio personality best known as one of the hosts of the nationally syndicated morning show, The Breakfast Club, alongside Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy.

Early Life and Education

Angela Yee was born and raised in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. Her mother is of West Indian descent from Montserrat, and her father is Chinese of Cantonese heritage. At the age of five, in 1981, her family moved to South Orange, New Jersey. Growing up with a love for literature and storytelling, she pursued an English major at Wesleyan University, aspiring to become a writer.

Career Beginnings and Work with Wu-Tang Management

After college, Angela Yee became involved in the marketing and music industries. She landed an internship with Wu-Tang Management, where she was later hired as an assistant to the CEO, Divine. During her time there, she showcased her writing talent by crafting skits for GZA’s second solo album, Beneath the Surface.

Transition to Radio and Early Broadcasting Roles

Yee began her broadcasting career as an intern at Emmis Communications, working at Hot 97. After gaining valuable experience, she explored opportunities in the marketing department at Sirius Satellite Radio. Through her previous work with Paul Rosenberg at Eminem’s clothing line, Shady Limited, she leveraged connections to secure a role at Shade 45. Initially filling a gap for a female voice on the morning show, Yee soon took over hosting duties full-time. The show was later rebranded as The Morning After with Angela Yee.
