DJ Envy, born Raashaun Casey in 1977, hails from Queens, New York City. He is American by nationality and of African-American ethnicity. Career Beginnings and Rise to Prominence

DJ Envy developed an interest in DJing during his teenage years. He was mentored by DJ Clue, who introduced him to the mixtape circuit in the 1990s. Through dedication and talent, DJ Envy rose quickly in the industry, producing freestyles and exclusive tracks for major artists such as The L.O.X., 50 Cent, and Jay-Z during the early 2000s.

DJ Envy gained widespread recognition when he began mixing for the Hot 97 show Takin’ It to the Streets, hosted by Angie Martinez. After Martinez went on maternity leave, Envy stepped in as host, which led to him co-hosting the Hot 97 morning show with Miss Jones.

Following Miss Jones’s departure, DJ Envy hosted several solo segments, including The People’s Mix and The People’s Choice Hit List, as well as a midday show titled New at 2.

In 2010, he co-founded The Breakfast Club alongside Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. The syndicated radio show became a major platform for hip-hop and pop culture discussions, further solidifying Envy’s status as a prominent radio personality. Although he previously had a feud with DJ Drama, the two reconciled on the show.

DJ Envy has made various appearances across television and film. He was featured in the music video for “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley” by Lloyd Banks and Juelz Santana and appeared on shows such as 106 & Park, Entourage, Tha Corner, and Music Choice. He also had a role in the independent film Blood of a Champion, where he played a character allied with the protagonist, Shadow. Additionally, he appeared in a documentary focusing on rapper Gucci Mane.
