Anthony Fantano is an American music critic, video producer, and journalist who was born on October 28, 1985, in Wolcott, Connecticut. Growing up he was a huge fan of the animated comedy series "The Simpsons" and wanted to be a cartoonist. Fantano got involved in music in the 2000s as a music director for the Southern Connecticut State University college radio station. Fantano describes himself as "the internet's busiest music nerd". On his website, Fantano reviews a variety of music genres ranging from pop to hip-hop, electronic, folk, rock, and more.
Fantano also has a YouTube channel where he posts his reviews of various music artists. In 2007, Fantano was hired at Connecticut Public Radio station where he hosted the show "The Needle Drop". Fantano first launched "The Needle Drop" as text reviews but the show evolved into a video blog featuring review in 2009. While he was working on "The Needle Drop", he was also working at a pizza restaurant. He eventually decided to pursue his video blog full-time in 2011. Fantano appeared in one Guardian article later that year about the rise of music vlogging. He currently lives in Middletown, Connecticut where he is married to Dominique Boxely.
