Ashlee Simpson is an American singer, songwriter, and actress, best known for her work in the pop and pop rock music genres. She was born on October 3, 1984, in Waco, Texas, and raised in the Dallas suburb of Richardson. She is the younger sister of singer and actress Jessica Simpson. Her mother, Tina Ann, was a homemaker, while her father, Joe Truett Simpson, initially worked as a psychologist before transitioning to work as her manager.
Simpson's debut studio album, Autobiography, was released in 2004 and achieved commercial success, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200. It was followed by I Am Me in 2005 and Bittersweet World in 2008. While not all of her albums replicated the massive success of her debut, Ashlee established herself as a notable figure in early 2000s pop rock.
She also appeared in several television shows and films. Her more prominent roles include a recurring character in the television series 7th Heaven and a starring role in the reboot of Melrose Place. She also had cameos and guest appearances in series like Malcolm in the Middle, America's Next Top Model, and the reality show The Ashlee Simpson Show, which documented her early music career. Additionally, she appeared in the film Pawn Shop Chronicles.
In May 2008, Ashlee married Pete Wentz, bassist of the rock band Fall Out Boy, in a private ceremony held at her parents’ residence in California. Shortly after their marriage, she began using the name Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. Prior to the wedding, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child.
Their son, Bronx Mowgli Wentz, was born in November 2008. During their marriage, the couple also made a joint appearance in an episode of the television series CSI: NY.
