Bart Conner was born on March 28, 1958. Bart Connor grew up in Morton Grove, Illinois. He first became involved in gymnastics at his local YMCA. Conner joined the gymnastics team at Niles West High School and when he graduated, in 1976, he attended the University of Oklahoma.

While attending college, Conner worked with Coach Paul Ziert as a member of the gymnastics team. Conner was an All-American and won the 1981 Nissen Award for America’s best gymnast. While at the University of Oklahoma, Conner earned 14 NCAA All-America honors, and drove his group to 2 NCAA group titles.

Bart Conner is married to Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci. The couple has one child, a son, named Dylan Paul Conner. They got married in a sumptuous state wedding in Bucharest, Romania. It was in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where he made a dramatic rebound from his second torn biceps injury to win two gold medals, one as a member of the US group. Conner earned his second gold with a score of ideal 10 on the parallel bars.

In 1991, Conner was enlisted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame, and in 1997, he was accepted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

After graduating with a degree in Journalism in 1984, Conner started a new business with Ziert. They now own a few gymnastic related business interests including the Bart Conner Gymnastics Academy, International GYMNAST magazine, and Grips, Etc. Conner still appreciates his beloved sport as he works as an ESPN TV analyst and public speaker.
