Bebe Rexha is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on August 30, 1989, in Brooklyn, New York, in the United States. She was born to Albanian parents named Bukurije and Flamur Rexha. While growing up, Rexha taught herself to play the trumpet, guitar, and piano. She attended Tottenville High School on Staten Island in New York. Rexha participated in several musicals in high school as well as joined the school's choir. Rexha was inspired by artists such as Coldplay, the Cranberries, Alanis Morissette, and Kanye West. When she was still a teenager, Rexha beat 700 participants to win the Best Teen Songwriter Award and was signed to a contract with talent scout Samantha Cox. In 2010, Rexha met Pete Wentz of the group Fall Out Boy and began working at a recording studio in New York City, New York.
Rexha joined her first group called Black Cards which was a project by Wentz. She left the group in 2012 to pursue a solo career. Rexha went on to earn the Able Olman Scholarship for her work as a songwriter. She made her solo debut in 2013 after signing with Warner Bros. Records. Rexha had several hit singles including "I'm a Mess", "Meant to Be", and "Me, Myself & I". She is said to be in a relationship with the Dutch DJ, Martin Garrix.
