Professional Career
Hemmer accepted a position at CNN as a correspondent and he would go on to spent 10 years there. At CNN, he co-hosted shows like "CNN Morning News", "CNN Tonight", "CNN Live Today" and "CNN Early Edition." He went on to do a live webcast of the funeral ceremony of the great Pope John Paul 2nd from the old Vatican City in 2005. He also reported for both the Democratic and the Republic Conventions held in 2004. He was then transferred to the country of Kuwait to cover the Iraqi Freedom operation when the war began in 2003. In 2002, he reported on the mining accident in Pennsylvania where nine workers were trapped for almost 3 days in a tunnel.
