In 2012, Baier co-anchored FOX News’ election night coverage alongside Megyn Kelly. The broadcast, titled “Fox News 2012,” drew nearly 12 million viewers, making it one of the highest-rated cable news events of the year. Additionally, he provided extensive coverage of the 2012 presidential campaign, taking his show to nine different states. He anchored three presidential debates, one vice presidential debate, and moderated five other political debates.
Throughout his career, Baier has interviewed numerous prominent political figures and world leaders. In 2010, he conducted a widely discussed interview with President Barack Obama just days before the U.S. House of Representatives voted on the Affordable Care Act. The interview was praised by Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan as “the most significant and revealing interview broadcasted about Barack Obama.”

Bret Baier is a practicing Roman Catholic and attends Holy Trinity Catholic Church in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. He resides with his wife, Amy, and their two sons, Paul and Daniel. Paul was born with congenital heart defects and underwent open-heart surgery as a child. Before the surgery, the Baier family was invited to the White House, where President George W. Bush and medical staff briefed them on Paul’s condition and care.
