Bret Baier is the host of “Special Report with Bret Baier” on FOX News Channel. The program is one of the top-rated news shows on cable television, regularly attracting over two million viewers per night. It consistently ranks among the top five programs in cable news.

Roles in National Security and White House Coverage

Prior to anchoring “Special Report,” Baier served as the FOX News Chief White House Correspondent from 2006 to 2009, where he covered both domestic and international presidential initiatives. From 2001 to 2006, he was the National Security Correspondent based at The Pentagon. In this role, he reported on national security issues, defense policy, and military operations, including intelligence matters.

During this period, Baier traveled extensively, reporting from conflict zones and military installations worldwide. Notably, he covered developments in Iraq on 12 separate occasions and reported from Afghanistan 13 times. He has accompanied U.S. military and government officials across 74 countries.
