Brett Keisel

Brett Keisel a former American football defensive end was born on September 19, 1978, in Provo, Utah. He was drafted by Pittsburgh Steelers of NFL (National Football League) in the 7th round of 2002 NFL draft as a defensive end. He played 12 seasons; he was also a college football player at Brigham Young University (BYU).

Education

Brett Keisel did his High schooling at GHS (Greybull High School) in Wyoming. In basketball and football, he won a four-year letter. Also, twice he lettered in track, and he was four-time All-Conference selection who was also honored with All-State honors as a linebacker and tight end. He achieved quite a few awards during his high school plays including winning player of the year of Wyoming from USA Today, Conference player of the year, Sportslink Player of the year.

Keisel, as a freshman year at Brigham Young University, he was redshirted. He was a defensive end during his sophomore year and the subsequent year he moved to Snow College. To finish his college football he came back to BYU. Throughout his football career, keisel earned total 66 tackles including 39 solo tackles, 19 scrimmage stops, and 9 quarterback sacks.

Career Experience

Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Keisel in the 7th round 242 overall in 2002 NFL Draft. He made 5 appearances during his rookie year and made four tackles.

In 2003, he was injured and he didn’t play the entire season due to the surgery on his shoulder. The injury caused him skip the entire season. He came back in 2004 and in that season he made 13 appearances and 9 tackles. Next year, in 2005, he appeared with a record of 33 tackles and 3 sacks in all 16 games, it was the beginning of his NFL career. In March 2006, after Kimo Oelhoffen left the team and joined the NY Jets, Brett signed a 4-year contract with the PS for $14 million dollars. 2006 season, he won the first-team position at right defensive end and played total 16 games, and he made a record of 55 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one of the best seasons in his career.

On 31st August 2009, Keisel signed a new 5-year contract for $18.885 million dollars, and also got 5 million dollars bonus for signing the contract. After the contract period was over, in 2014, he joined the free agency, but, on August 19, 2014, he signed a 2-year contract with the PS for $3 million dollars including $5 million dollar bonus for signing the contract. But again, on March 9, 2015, he was released by the PS.

Personal Life

Brett Keisel parents are Lane Keisel and Connie. He grew up with three sisters, Peggy, Codi and Kalli, and four brothers, Chris, Tom, Chad, and Lance. He married his high school sweetheart Sarah. Keisel and his wife Sarah are blessed with a son Jacob, and a daughter Grace.

Keisel grew “Da Beard” when he went with his father on a hunting trip on summertime. Eventually, his beard became famous at the end of the 2010 season of NFL. Many players of NFL started growing beards and called it as a “rally beards” during the playoffs, as they believed that it will bring them good luck. Keisel’s beard made sensational news for media and other social networking sites.
